After listening to the video, talk to your friends and family and think about these questions:

  1. Why is it important parents and carers to “have a say” when it comes to supporting young people with disabilities?
  2. Marcella mentions ways that her community helps people stay safe. For example, she talks about the Safe Places and Vulnerable Adults list. How do these schemes help people with disabilities?
  3. Marcella is worried that there are not enough opportunities for young people to swim in her borough.  Why are swimming programmes important for young people, and what message does it send to them when they can’t go swimming?
